Finding The Right Toothbrush

Did you know that the wrong toothbrush can damage your gums and lead to tooth decay? Here's what you should look for in a toothbrush...

The best toothbrush for you is one that you'll use! Here are 3 things to keep in mind when you shop for your next toothbrush.

  • Purchase a brush that's marked "soft" on the packaging. Soft bristles are pliable and can reach in-between the teeth and along the gum line without damaging the tissue. While you may think that a "hard" brush is better, they're not. Hard bristles can cause damage when brushing and can wear away the gum as well as enamel at the gum line.
  • Buy a brush that's the right size for your hand so that you can hold it easily. Brush size is especially important for small children and older adults who might have some difficulty gripping the handle or with dexterity in brushing their teeth.
  • Select a brush that you like. Today's toothbrushes come in every shape and color imaginable. The key is to buy one you'll enjoy using.
So, purple, pink, green or blue find the toothbrush that's right for you and use it every day to remove the harmful plaque from your teeth. Happy brushing!
